We are Proud of Besix ReRe Group to Build Rail Baltica Railway Bridge and Central Passenger Station in Riga

Association of persons BESIX RERE GROUP consisting of N.V. BESIX S.A. (Belgium) and SIA RERE BŪVE (Latvia) has signed a contract for the development of complex building design for and construction works of the Rail Baltica Riga railway bridge, earth bank and Riga Central Passenger Station. The total contract amount is EUR 430.5 million.
On 29 May this year, the contract was signed with Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas, the Rail Baltica project national implementing body in Latvia. The large contract, which together with the appendices consists of 10,000 pages, combines the requirements for the design and construction of the facility; according to the contract, BESIX RERE GROUP will elaborate a full-embracing construction project and obtain all relevant approvals and carry out works, taking full responsibility for the implementation of the project.
The ambitious project includes 2.6 kilometres of standard-gauge railway section in Riga from Lāčplēša Street to Jelgava Street, 6 new railway overpasses over Lāčplēša, Dzirnavu, Prāga, Maskava, Mūkusala and Jelgava Streets, as well as a new one-kilometre bridge over the Daugava and the Mazā Daugava.
As a result of the implementation of Rail Baltica project, a modern multimodal transportation hub will be established in the centre of Riga that will contribute to mobility, security, accessibility of the city and give new features to Riga connecting visually and functionally the parts of the city that are currently separated by the railway earth bank, and providing a convenient connection between both banks of the Daugava by means of a new railway bridge that will also be used by pedestrians and cyclists.
