WALLESS advises Lääne-Nigula municipality on the development of a new on-shore wind farm

Our firm represents and advises Lääne-Nigula municipality on the development of the largest on-shore wind park planned in Estonia. The project developer is the state-owned Enefit Green (Eesti Energia group), which intends to construct a wind park consisting of more than 20 turbines with a height of 290 meters next to one of the biggest settlements in the municipality. Irregularities in the planning procedures and the lack of cooperation by the developer to mitigate the impact of the wind park forced the municipality to terminate the proceedings. Currently, our firm is representing the municipality in court proceedings brought by Enefit Green against the decision to end the spatial planning procedures. The case has precedent value as there does not exist sufficient case law on spatial planning proceedings.
