Vilnius – London City direct flights: a milestone achieved

Direct flights between Vilnius and London City airports are now a reality to continue enjoying, thanks to the groundbreaking airline incentive model – the Risk Sharing Partnership.

In this innovative collaboration, Lithuanian Airports has partnered with LOT Polish Airlines, carefully selected through an international tender process. Together, they invest in route operations, sharing both risks and anticipated profits. No longer reliant on state aid through the Public Service Obligation scheme, the Vilnius-London City route now operates commercially, promising increased returns for Lithuanian Airports.

This partnership ensures profitability and offers a more convenient flight schedule tailored to the needs of business travellers, ultimately enhancing air connectivity. Furthermore, it serves as a pilot for the Risk Sharing Mechanism, paving the way for additional routes with Lithuania in the near future.

Laura Ziferman, Marius Dobilas, Dr Darius Miniotas, Paulina Ambrasaitė, and the entire WALLESS team congratulate the Lithuanian Airports team. Their competencies and meticulous planning have made this milestone possible. Contributing to the application of the Risk Sharing Partnership model in Lithuania and being part of this inaugural pilot project has been a true pleasure!
