Latvia internationally recognised for a strong anti-money laundering system
After several years of determined reform, Latvia’s anti-money laundering framework has earned clear international recognition.
The latest MONEYVAL evaluation confirms high or substantial effectiveness across almost all key areas. Since 2018, Latvia has strengthened supervision, reformed its Financial Intelligence Unit, amended key legislation and embedded a consistently applied risk-based approach across institutions.
For investors and international partners, this assessment goes beyond regulatory compliance. It provides assurance of predictability, institutional coordination and alignment with international standards. A proportionate and well-functioning AML framework reduces reputational risk and supports stable cross-border operations.
This progress also signals Latvia’s continued institutional development and its commitment to a stable, transparent and internationally competitive financial environment.
