The largest wind energy project in the Baltic region: Ignitis Group secures financing for Kelmė wind farm
A step toward Lithuania’s cleaner and more independent energy future – Ignitis Group has secured EUR 318 million in financing for the Kelmė wind farm, the largest wind energy project in the Baltics. With a total installed capacity of 314 megawatts (MW), the wind farm will generate enough electricity to power around 250 thousand Lithuanian households.
The financing was provided by a strong group of institutional and commercial banks: the European Investment Bank (EIB), Swedbank Lietuvoje, EBRD, and Nordic Investment Bank. This is the largest financing package ever raised at one time by Ignitis Group, highlighting the power of collaboration in advancing the shift to green energy.
WALLESS team, led by Partner Gediminas Rečiūnas, Senior Associate Svetlana Rudaja, Associate Gina Petkevičiūtė, alongside Partner Vaidotas Puklevičius, Senior Associates Monika Gadeikė and Eduardas Šimkus, advised the lending institutions throughout the financing process.
