Estonia’s first offshore wind farm seabed use permit has been issued – WALLESS advised Saare Wind Energy OÜ throughout the entire process
Estonia’s first offshore wind farm seabed use right has been granted – and it’s more than a milestone. It’s a signal. The Estonian government has issued the country’s first-ever seabed use right for an offshore wind farm, granted to Saare Wind Energy OÜ. The planned project – up to 1400 MW, located 11 km off the coast of Saaremaa – marks a new chapter for clean energy in the region. WALLESS advised Saare Wind Energy throughout the permitting process and in all key project phases – from planning law and environmental regulation to energy market rules and critical contractual matters. The legal team included Partner Edgar-Kaj Velbri and Counsel Angela Kase.
This isn’t just a single project approval – it sets a legal and practical precedent for the future of offshore wind in Estonia and beyond.
