What should you do if someone has entered wrongful information about you or your company into the payment default register?
What action should you take if you become aware that someone has entered wrongful information about you or your company into the payment default register? Evelin Lisett Ratnik, Attorney-at-Law of WALLESS, shares her insights in the latest issue of the accounting and tax news magazine “Raamatupidamisuudised”.
The payment default register is a publicly accessible database that gathers information about debts due for more than forty-five days. Anyone can enter information about another person’s (alleged) debt into the register. All the vital Estonian creditors (banking, communications, telecommunications, fuel, trade, construction, rental, transportation, etc.) can then use it to check your business’ reliability. This is why having any wrongful information published in the register can result in grave consequences.
The article that has also landed Evelin on the cover of the magazine gives practical advice on how to quickly and effectively fight against any false information published in the register – both outside the court and, if necessary, in court proceedings.
