Stay ahead in the renewable energy game!
- Lithuania, a pioneer in remote production, is yet to embrace energy communities
- Lithuanian Energy Agency (LEA) and Public Investment Development Agency (Viešųjų investicijų plėtros agentūra -VIPA) support schemes are financially appealing but face technical and regulatory challenges
- Municipalities must act swiftly to seize opportunities in the upcoming calls for solar and wind power project support
These are the insights from the recent event for municipalities, organized by the Lithuanian Solar Energy Association (Lietuvos saulės energetikos asociacija) and the Association of Local Authorities in Lithuania (Lietuvos savivaldybių asociacija), brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from LEA, Energijos skirstymo operatorius (ESO), VIPA, and regulatory bodies. WALLESS Partner Vaidotas Puklevičius and Senior Associate Simona Miliauskaitė-Gintutė participated in the event to shed light on legal aspects of energy project development and moderate Q&A session.
To stay ahead in the renewable energy game, Lithuania must not only continue its progress in remote production but also embrace the concept of energy communities and reduce level of overregulation. While financial incentives are enticing, navigating the technical and regulatory landscape remains a challenge. Stay tuned for more updates on the renewable energy discussion.
