Port of Tallinn criminal case has now reached its conclusion
After 10 years, 5 months and 1 week, the criminal proceedings concerning the Port of Tallinn (Tallinna Sadam) have reached a final, binding outcome. The Supreme Court declined to admit the appeals lodged against the Tallinn Circuit Court’s decision, which had terminated the proceedings on limitation grounds. The Circuit Court reclassified the alleged conduct as private-sector bribery and held that the relevant offences were time-barred.
Over the course of the proceedings, the state appointed three different prosecutors, and the judicial panel changed on several occasions. The outcome is positive for the defendants, and a process of this length inevitably placed a significant burden on them.
WALLESS Partners Erki Kergandberg and Elmer Muna, together with Senior Associate Tanel Kask and Associate Mileen Arbma, have represented defendants Tõnis Pohla and Üllar Raad in this complex, long-running matter.
