Dovilė Burgienė at “Tvarus ūkis” conference
If circumstances control the farm, start controlling the circumstances. That thought was heard all day at Tvarus Ūkis, the conference organised by Bioversio. WALLESS Lithuania Managing Partner Dovilė Burgienė joined Gedas Špakauskas and Paulius Atkočiūnas on a panel led by Raigardas Musnickas to explore one important question: how can farmers team up to turn local crops into high-value products – and do it safely, openly, and profitably?
“Working together is the answer. The farmers can pick the form of a co-operative, a company, or investment through a fund. That way they can commit to supply the raw materials, pool equity, raise external funding, and run this professionally via clear rules on ownership and governance. The structure doesn’t just keep the project on track; it makes the investment succeed” – notes Dovilė.
With a solid legal plan, farmers can move beyond selling raw crops and start manufacturing – adding value close to the field, building stronger local brands, and keeping more income in farming communities.
