Packed with energy and insights, Lithuania’s Annual Competition Conference lit up the stage with its discussions! Organized by Vilniaus universitetas / Vilnius University, Lithuanian Competition Council (KT), and Competition Law Committee of Lietuvos advokatūra, the event gathered Competition law experts to share their insights.
WALLESS partner Dr. Darius Miniotas moderated a panel discussion on “The Competition Council’s right to collect information: balancing the right of defense and the principles of public administration.” Key takeaways from the discussion:
- authority has wide, but not absolute discretion to collect information;
- undertakings’ rights must be respected;
- at an early stage of investigation it is difficult (but not impossible) to identify which information is relevant.
Practical difficulties in finding the correct balance will remain, but the panel discussion shed some light on the ways to achieve that!
