A closer look at VMI’s monitoring of wealthy individuals – commentary by Dr Aistė Medelienė in Verslo žinios
Being wealthy and paying taxes: do you need a helping hand or per se deserve an extra push?

This silence has caught the attention of experts working with complex tax matters – like Dr Aiste Medeliene, WALLESS Partner and tax expert – who regularly advise clients on issues where legal certainty is important.
In a recent Verslo žinios commentary, Dr Aiste Medeliene points to a growing concern: while the originally declared aim of this VMI initiative was to support taxpayers, the focus has shifted to monitoring, control and collection. The lack of disputes, even in high-value cases, highlights a system where taxpayers may feel discouraged from standing up for their rights – even when they have valid grounds to do so.
