WALLESS partner Andrius Ivanauskas attended the 6th Annual IBA European Start-up Conference and shares some key takeaways from the event:
- We follow closely and contribute to the lawyers’ group working on the European Model Clauses for Lean Investment Agreements. The draft has already received a surprisingly high-level acceptance across lawyers from all European jurisdictions.
- DeepTech can be promoted by facilitating spin-offs while retaining public stake in such startups through equity or IP licences. UK universities are a good example of how to foster this.
- Defence AI startup Helsing recently became a unicorn. Their inhouse legal counsel shared secrets of how defence sector and how venture capital must adapt to each other.
- Assistance to lawyers is coming in the form of predictive AI for short tasks, while generative AI is still to show its potential for generating longer texts.
